Q: What is “Halo Wars”?
A: Halo Wars is the next real-time strategy game from Ensemble Studios, creators of the Age of Empires franchise. Designed exclusively for the Xbox 360, Halo Wars allows you to take charge of the human UNSC armies and see the Halo universe from a totally new perspective.

Q: Where does “Halo Wars” take place in the Halo timeline?
A: “Halo Wars” takes place before the first Halo FPS game, during the UNSC’s initial deadly encounters with the Covenant.

Q: Can you reveal anything about “Halo Wars” storyline?
A: Players will lead the crew of the UNSC’s “Spirit of Fire” from initial skirmishes to an all out war against the Covenant.

Q: Will I be able to play as the Covenant?
A: Updated! Yes, the Covenant are playable in Halo Wars.

Q: Why is “Halo” being made into an RTS game?
A: Warthogs are cool. Scorpions are cool. Controlling lots of Warthogs and Scorpions and sending them into battle is really, really cool.We’ve been big fans of Halo for years at Ensemble Studios, and when we sat down to discuss our next project we thought Halo would be absolutely perfect as an RTS on the Xbox 360.

Q: When will “Halo Wars” be available?
A: Updated! First Half of 2009.

Q: Will I be able to play Halo Wars on Xbox 360 and PC?
A: Halo Wars is for the Xbox 360 exclusively.

Q: Is the trailer pre-rendered?
A: Yes, and it's based around our world concepts and uses lots of in-game models. The sound and music were done at Ensemble Studios as well. Props to our friends at Blur for bringing it all together and making it really shine. We have released a video for download that shows in-game footage as well. Q: Other RTS games that have transitioned to console have had issues with controls, how will “Halo Wars” improve on the formula?
A: Halo Wars was created for the Xbox 360 from the ground up, which meant we didn't have to make compromises or shoe-horn in artifacts from a Windows PC game. We were able to take all the best aspects of RTS games, make them work perfectly on the Xbox 360, and exclude the rest.

Microsoft Game Studios and Ensemble Studios announced today that Halo Wars™, the highly anticipated action strategy game based on the legendary Halo universe, is finished and sent to manufacturing! Created from the ground up for the Xbox 360® console and controller, Halo Wars combines a peerless control scheme and gameplay with an incredibly rich, epic story set 20 years prior to the story told in Halo: Combat Evolved.



The result is a commanding experience that is a must-have for Halo fans and a title that is sure to become a classic among fans of strategy games.

Video Documentary
As you eagerly wait for launch day, a video documentary series announced today will explore defining themes of Halo Wars and give you a behind-the-scenes look at the game's development and some of the people involved in its creation. The premier episode captures key elements that frame Halo Wars gameplay—the controls, perspective, and strategy.

Demo Details
In addition, the recently announced Xbox LIVE® demo for Halo Wars will land on Marketplace on February 5 at 2:00 A.M. Pacific Time. In the demo, explore Ensemble's groundbreaking control scheme in optional beginner and advanced tutorials, or jump right into the action to experience the beginning of the Halo Wars story with the first two campaign missions.



The demo also includes Chasms, one of the Halo Wars 14 multiplayer maps, where you can battle it out in Skirmish mode vs. A.I. Play as either the UNSC with Captain Cutter's leader powers, or as the Covenant with the Prophet of Regret's own unique abilities. Don't forget to set your Xbox to download this demo!

Game Details
Halo Wars is an exciting strategy game exclusive to Xbox 360. In campaign mode, command the armies of the UNSC warship Spirit of Fire, with familiar and new UNSC units in its initial encounters against the Covenant, an alien coalition threatening to obliterate mankind. I found the demo to be quite enjoyable. I have not played the skirmish part, but the camapaign was fun. I haven't played any of those types of games before.
